1 _MDCL SC death certificate
[Easler Family Tree January 20, 2003.FTW]
It is rumored that William Calvin Easler was murdered by his wife, Martha Dillard Brown. She is supposed to have fed him a large amount of arsenic for supper one evening. William went out to the corn crib where he fell and died. When the authorities arrived, he had swollen to twice his normal size. Martha is said to have left with two women a couple of weeks later.
It is known that William died at James Dillard's, his father-in-law's place, in Cherokee Springs, SC. Another Easler legend has it that his in-laws poisoned him. This was never proven. William Calvin Easler was only 21 at the time of his death.
