Obituary: W. Palm Beach, Fla. - Sudie May Beaty Whelchel, 75, formerly of 503 Johnson St., Gaffney, died Feb. 11, 1990. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Colie Blease Whelchel and the daughter of the late Isaac Franklin and Minnie Elizabeth Henderson Beaty. Survivors include a daughter, Living, of West Palm Beach, FLa.; a brother, John Beaty of Spartanburg; a sister, Brenda Olmstead of Gaffney; her step-mother, Bessie Beaty of Spartanburg; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Frederick Memorial Garden by the Rev. Charles Harrison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Fund, 70 E. Lake St., Chicago, Ill. 60601. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney is in charge of the arrangements.

Born Dec. 6, 1922, in Gladys, she was a daughter of the late William and Mattie Smith Lindsay and was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Living and wife, Living of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Heather and husband, Jessy; two great- grandchildren, Parker and Peyton .
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fort Hill Memorial.
